Code of Conduct Modesto con wishes to ensure a safe friendly environment for its guests. To help ensure this objective there are a few rules for all attendees:
1. Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated
2. Cosplay is not consent. Please ask before taking pictures
3. No fighting, real or fake unless included in a guest panel or demonstration.
4. Do not impede the flow of traffic
5. No public inebriation/ any other intoxication
6. Upkeep a degree of personal hygiene
7. Follow all rules and directions from staff
8. Anything that is illegal outside of the event is not permitted within the event
If you at anytime during the event you feel that you are harassed or another unsafe violation of these rules is occurring please report it to a staff member. Violations of these rules may result in actions including but not limited to: a verbal warning, removal from the event, and/or criminal charges. The severity of the action will be determined by staff members of the event. Modesto Con is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged property should an issue of removal take place.
-No functional weapons are allowed at Modesto Con.
-Especially in crowded areas, attendees are expected to carry their props carefully so as to not hurt others and/or damage others' property.
-Simulated or costume weapons are allowed as a part of your costume, subject to prior approval by security and compliance with the following:
-All costume weapons must be inspected at the Weapons Check Desk at the entry.
-All costume weapons must conform to city,state, and federal law.
-All costume weapons must be rendered inoperable. (yes, that means projectiles as well)
-No Steel or metal weapons.
-No aluminum or wood (solid or hollow core) bats.
-Arrow tips must be removed and secured in their quiver.
-Any object that can be considered a weapon.
-After each person's costume weapon has been checked, it will be tagged by security to designate that your weapons have been checked.
-Security will escort you to the security station for inspection if your costume weapon is not tagged.
-If you do not want to have your costume weapons inspected or tagged, or if you are not willing to comply with these policies, please do not bring your costume weapons to Modesto Con.
-Lightsabers are allowed but must adhere to the expectation of carrying props carefully.
Modesto Con wishes to ensure that all cosplays worn at the event match our wish of ensuring a family friendly environment while not stifling the spirit of cosplay. To that end here are a few guidelines we wish to set:

-Modesto con recommends shoes be worn at all times however if bare feet are a part of a cosplay it is recommended that soles be worn. Modesto Con is not responsible for any injuries resulting from lack of shoes.
-Cosplays should not expose the body in such ways that would be prohibited outside by law.
-Cosplays must fit through a standard doorway
-Cosplays restricting movement or sight must have a handler present to assist navigation
-No realistic depictions of law enforcement or current military uniforms are permitted. Including clothing with any names or initials of official government entities.
-Modesto Con reserves the right to ask an attendee to change if their cosplay to be in violation of any of the above or in poor taste.

Modesto Convention Corporation has a few expectations of those who receive press passes to our events.
-A level of professionalism at the event
-Ask before taking any pictures of guests or attendees
-Requesting any type of pose in poor taste will not be tolerated
-It is that no monetary compensation is asked for any pictures taken at Modesto Convention Corporation events
-You may not request photo shoots outside of the event of any kind.
-If you are in violation of any of these, Modesto Convention Corporation shall but not limited to: revoke your press pass, remove you from the event, and/or ban you from any other Modesto Convention Corporation event.
While there is security on premises, their purpose is a deterrent. Therefore, Modesto Convention Corporation is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged property. If an issue occurs, you must immediately report it with Modesto Convention Corporation security.
